At Abtran, we strive to incorporate Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR) into the day to day running of our business. That means focusing on our people and the community in which we work.
Through all our CSR activities, we look to engage, develop and challenge our workforce, whilst in turn positively impacting on the wider community.
Our approach to CSR is focused around two core strands: People in the Workplace and Our Community.
Our Workplace initiatives include a diverse range of Sports and Social teams including soccer, golf and tag rugby. We also actively get involved in various National Workplace events.
National Workplace Wellbeing Day at Abtran
During ‘National Workplace Wellbeing Day’in 2015, Abtran ran a number of event across Abtran from Chair Yoga, to an introduction to Mindfulness, Relaxation rooms with a number of representatives on-site including a Nutritionist, a Kinesiology Practitioner and Personal Trainers. The event was a great success with people from across the company taking part. We’d like to thank our CSR partners and staff for their support and contribution and look forward to building on this success for next year’s event.
‘Mind Ur Buddy’ programme
Another important part of our commitment to our People is the ‘Mind Ur Buddy’ programme in association with Pieta House. Through partnership with Pieta House, our People become trained ‘Buddy Supports’ (BSP’s). Training equips BSP’s with the skills to coach and support their colleagues in the work environment.
We are committed to playing a role in both the economic and social development of the communities in which we live and work.
This commitment to helping out in our Community led to the foundation of The Abtran Charity Club in 2009. Our focus this year is to concentrate our activity on Education and Employability in our local communities.
Aligned with our desire to focus on Education and employability, we have partnered with Suas Educational Development, a not-for-profit movement that supports quality education programmes in our communities in Ireland.
We have an amazing group of people working with local children to guide and mentor them through a structured literacy programme. This programme provides literacy support for 8-14 year olds across Ireland, to increase their literacy levels and educational attainment, improve their self-esteem and enhance their perception of the importance of learning.
Facilitation of School Visits: We have hosted a number of visits to our facilities in Cork, giving groups of school children an opportunity to experience what it would be like to work at Abtran.
CV Clinics: We are keen to work with pupils from local secondary schools. Our aim is to provide advice and guidance to those preparing to enter the world of work by helping pupils to enhance and optimise their CVs to showcasing their skills and talents.
‘Help out, Have fun!’
The Abtran Charity Club is made up of a number of volunteers who dedicate their spare time to managing a calendar of initiatives throughout the year generating awareness for specific causes and fundraising for local and national charities. Our Charity Club has worked alongside many charities notably the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, OvaCare and the Saint Vincent de Paul.
ISO 27001 is an globally recognised Information Security Management Standard which relates to all information held by a company including employee, client and financial data.

The worldwide quality management standard, ISO 9001 was created to help companies meet the needs of their customers while also meeting statutory and regulatory requirements.
Abtran has achieved and maintained this standard since August 2013.
ISAE is an Internationally recognised assurance standard.
In 2014, we received an “exception free” Type 2 audit report, providing assurance to our client that internal controls were operating effectively in the business.
We also achieved an exception free SAS 70 for Financial Reconciliation Processes in 2010.
The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) provides a framework for enhanced payment card data security.
Abtran has achieved PCI Compliance Level 1, the highest level of compliance, which authorises us to process over 6 million visa transactions annually.
Abtran have achieved and maintained this standard since October 2010.
Abtran is registered with the Central Bank of Ireland as an insurance/reinsurance intermediary under the European Communities (Insurance Mediation) Regulations, 2005.
Abtran is registered with the Data Protection Commissioner as a Data Processor to ensure all data is processed in accordance with all Data Protection Regulations.
Abtran is a member of the Direct Marketing Association.
Membership ensures adherence to the strict guidelines in outbound dialling practices outlined by Ofcom in the UK.
The CCA (Customer Contact Association) is the global professional body for contact centres.
The CCA awards the Global Standard to contact centres that achieve its quality standard and Abtran has achieved year on year accreditation since 2007.
